A California Cigar Patio
Posted: Wednesday, October 13, 2004
By Alejandro Benes There's a new place to buy cigars and smoke them, too. And you won't be breaking California law. The Paseo Marketplace, located on Thousand Oaks Boulevard in the Los Angeles suburb of Westlake Village now boasts a small tobacco store called Cigar Patio.
Not to be confused with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's smoking tent in Sacramento, this cigar patio is tucked in between a Mexican restaurant and an interior design store in a shopping center. Cigar Patio is true to its name: just outside its door on the sidewalk, there are two small aluminum tables with chairs where patrons can sit and smoke without being bothered, says David Adwani, the manager of the store.
"We get people mostly in the afternoon and after dinner," Adwani said. "We've been open four months."
Cigar Patio is the third store owned by David's uncle, Ed Adwani. Cigar House in Chatsworth and Cigar Road in Woodland Hills are the other two.
"Cigar House has one small table outside that attracts about five to six smokers a day," Ed Adwani said.
The company has been around for 15 years. Also in Cigar News:
