Hurricane Help from Altadis

You shouldn't need an excuse to spend a winter weekend playing golf in the Caribbean, but Altadis U.S.A. has come up with one that is ironclad—helping hurricane victims.
In 1998 alone, two storms -- Hurricane Georges and Hurricane Mitch -- killed more than 11,000 and injured more than 2 million in the Caribbean and Central America. Altadis donated more than $1 million in funds, services and goods in the immediate aftermath, and created the Montecristo Cup Charitable Foundation. The organization has contributed more than $500,000 to hurricane relief funds, which are more needed than ever this year, with storms raging across the Atlantic.
The main event of the organization is the annual Montecristo Cup Charity Pro-Am, a four-day golf event co-sponsored by Cigar Aficionado magazine. This is the sixth year that it will be held, and Altadis plans to have the largest group ever, with more than 25 pro golfers and more than 100 amateurs.
The Montecristo Cup will be held December 1 through 5 at the Hyatt Dorado Beach Resort & Country Club in Puerto Rico.
For information on attending the Cup, or to make a contribution to hurricane relief, call 800-210-2783, or visit www.montecristocup.com. Also in Cigar News:
