The new Montecristo band's greatest departure from the old version is its gloss. Whereas Montes once had dull paper bands, the new ones are shiny and quite smooth to the touch. The new color is more milk-chocolate brown, whereas the old version looks grayer. The two white dots that separate the words "Montecristo" and "Habana" have grown larger, and the fleur-de-lis has been sketched in more elaborate fashion.
