Bolivar - Cuba

The Genuine Article (for reference)

Counterfeit purchased in Scottsdale, Arizona

This fraudulent band has quite a number of mistakes. Beginning with the centerpiece, Bolivar's face and name are blurry and the yellow backdrop is too intense, as if it had been colored with a yellow highlighter. The gold color scheme of the borders and coins are also wrong -- instead of a glistening sheen, this fake's hue is nearly olive.

The band's stock is a bit stiff. Notice how sharp the four points next to the upper and lower curve of the centerpiece are. The embossing of this band is entirely wrong as well. It is too exact, lacking the subtle raised borders and coins that a true band has. Finally, under close inspection, the vertical red lines extend into the top of the gold borders and are crossed like a row of "T's" with elongated bodies and concise crowns.
