Benjamin Menendez
General Cigar
Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur No. 4 Maduro
It was in his father's factory in Havana that Benjamin Menendez first worked in the cigar business. Today he is part of General Cigar Co., maker of such brands as Macanudo and Partagas. His favorite size is 5 1/2 by 46—the same dimensions as a Montecristo No. 1, which his father once made in Cuba. "I like it because I am not accustomed to large cigars. You have enough ring [in a 46] to get enough flavor. Seven by 50 is too much."
